From son of thunder — to apostle of love
On 26 September the Church remembers the holy apostle and evangelist John the Theologian — one of Christ’s closest disciples.
John knew persecution, arrest, trial, and exile. His story resonates today for Belarusians, many of whom have also known separation from home, prison, forced departure, and life far from their homeland.
But the main theme of John’s life is not fear or suffering. It is love. The man Christ once called a “son of thunder” became the apostle who left us the words: “God is love.”
